Born September 20, 1925 in Winnsboro, SC, she is the daughter of the late George Butler and Hattie Simpson Butler. Annie had two brothers. She was the only girl. She later moved to Washington, DC where she built her life and family with Willie Barber, Jr.
Throughout her lifetime she maintained positions of service. She worked in the cleaning service industry and in the food service industry over the years. She was a devout Christian and member of Canaan Baptist Church in Washington, DC for many years until she was physically unable to attend.
Annie was married to the late Willie Barber, Jr. on April 6, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1998. Together they had nine children. Their son Calvin Barber preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory three boys – Alfonzo Barber, Willie Barber, III., and Reginald Barber; and five girls - Joanne Baxter, Geraldine Barber, Deella Barber, Linda Barber-Adams and Theresa Barber; a host grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; in-laws; and extended family and friends who love and will miss her dearly.
Due to Covid-19, a brief graveside memorial service will be conducted at Quantico National Cemetery on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. for a limited number of guests.
