January 18, 1928 — December 22, 2020
On December 22, 2020, Alice, 92 years old, was peacefully called to rest with her husband Rudy by her side. A daughter of the late Linda and Rudolph Malaspina, Alice lived in Grasmere for 89 years before moving to Connecticut. She is predeceased by her sisters: Mary(Ferrugiaro), Ann Malaspina & Rose (Schmeider). As a young teenager Alice worked for Coppotellis Delicatessen in Concord. Alice and her sisters, known as The Melodears, entertained the troops on the USS Howard Gilmore on the Navy Day Celebration in NY Harbor in 1945. Alice then met the love of her life, Rudy, and they married in 1954. She worked for Home Life Insurance Company until her retirement.
Alice was an enthusiastic football and baseball fan. She and Rudy loved to watch the games together. Always willing to lend a hand, Alices’ generosity towards others was always first and foremost. From caring for her parents and family members and coming to the aid of neighbors in need, she and Rudy were always ready on a moments notice. The perfect hosts, they opened their home to many holiday, birthday and family celebrations. They provided a gathering place for family and friends to have lots of laughs, listen to music, dance and sing along to favorite songs while enjoying wonderfully prepared homemade foods, along with cocktails shaken by Rudy. They enjoyed a wonderful life together celebrating their 66th Wedding Anniversary in September 2020.
Alice enjoyed cooking, gardening and most of all needlepoint. Her home was filled with beautifully framed pieces. Alice is survived by her nieces Helinda DiLorenzo (Stephen), Carolyn Barone and a nephew Dennis Schmeider (Elizabeth). She was blessed with many great and great-grand nieces and nephews that she entertained with funny stories, songs and wheelbarrow rides in the backyard. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Intimate family viewing at Casey Funeral Home followed by interment in Moravian Cemetary. A memorial mass to be scheduled at a later date.
