Elizabeth “Tish” Alden Willson Auerbacher was born on August 20, 1927, in Mount Vernon, NY, to Kenneth Bellows Willson and Florence Attridge Alden Willson. She grew up in New York and fondly remembered spending summers at Lake Wallenpaupack in Pennsylvania from ages 7 to 20. She earned a degree in business from Centenary Junior College in Hackettstown, New Jersey, and became a secretary in New York City. In 1948, she married Charles “Bud” Ely Rogers, Jr., and they moved to Somerville, NJ, and had three children: Glenn, Donna, and Candace “Candy”, then later moved to Little Silver, NJ. Tish stayed home to raise her children and is remembered as a great mother and cook. She and Bud were competitive sailors, beginning in New York before their marriage and continuing in New Jersey until 1965. The whole family loved to sail and Glenn eventually crewed for Bud and then became a skipper himself. Donna also became a competitive sailor and Candy crewed for her for one year. Tish and Bud’s marriage ended in divorce and, in 1966, Tish married Paul Auerbacher. The family then moved to Morristown, NJ, and Tish resumed her career, this time working as a secretary in a hospital, then later as a medical office manager. In 1978, Tish and Paul moved to Boca Raton, FL, to be near her parents. Tish continued her career as a medical office manager in Florida. Tish and Paul enjoyed going to the beach. Through the course of their move to central Florida they made many dear friends. Once they both retired they relocated to their new house in DeBary Florida. Paul remained actively involved with Kiwanis and Key Club at the local high school. Tish was involved with Kiwanis when they performed screenings for elementary age children.
Tish enjoyed sitting in her garage on warm weather days. She always had dog treats for the dogs that walked by. Many of the neighbors that drove by while she was out would wave to her, even though they did not know her personally.
She will be missed by all her family, extended family members, and close friends.
As a breast cancer survivor and animal lover, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or MeStrong in her name.
