He was born on August 31, 1953 to the late Horace Ray Johnson and Ruby Bailey Johnson in Catawba County. Jeff was a 1971 graduate of St. Stephens High School. He loved Jesus and was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Jeff dedicated over 50 years of service to the trucking industry in his lifetime, working for MFX for the last 9 years. Jeff loved singing and entertaining others and formed the “Last Chance Band”. He loved playing golf, going to the beach, and watching game shows. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He also coached Little League football, basketball, and softball over the years and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play. Jeff was an outgoing, loving, and giving person, who never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kelly Johnson; and sister, Renee Johnson Sain.
Survivors include his wife Pam Johnson of the home; children, Tracy Moss and husband Brandon of Hickory, Colby Johnson of Claremont, Tammy Dover and husband Randy of Newton, Candice Justice and husband John of Newton, Crystal Hildebran and husband Ricky of Hickory, Josh Riddle of Hickory; grandchildren, Mason Moss, Maxwell Moss, Hannah Hamlin, Emily Dover, Allison Justice, Abigail Justice, Lizzie Hildebran, Caroline Hildebran, Taylor Riddle; and sister, Jan Hendrix and husband Terry of Hickory.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Dr. Ed Yount and Dr. Tim Jernigan will be officiating the service. A private family burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, Student Ministry, 440 7th St Pl SW, Conover, NC 28613.
