Ofelia left us to be with our Lord and Savior on December 31st, 2020. She married the love of her life Ignacio L Gonzalez on May 3, 1952.
She began working at the cafeteria for Zavala Elementary School. In her spare time, she picked up the hobby of cake making and decorating. Her love for cake making became her full-time business for 48 talented years. For many years, she and her husband volunteered their time and love to the children of St. Mary’s Central Catholic School Cafeteria. In her time spent at St. Mary’s, she would say
“I have five grand-children but I have 208 more that attend St. Mary’s School.”
She loved each and every one of her students as if they were her own. Ofelia will be greatly missed by all those that knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Aurora Madrid, son Ishmael Ramirez, Son-in-law Michael M Robles, grandson-in-law Ceasar Christopher Garcia.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 68 years, Ignacio L Gonzalez, her two daughters, Teresa M. Robles, Velma Rivera and husband Antonio Rivera, her five grandchildren, Ignacio G Robles, Mark A Torres, Matthew P. Ramirez, Michelle Gonzalez and husband Reyes Gonzalez, Myra Garcia and spouse Russell Sanchez, 11 great grandchildren, her Aunt Olivia Lascano and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A special Thanks to Kelly Wegner for many years of care, love and support given to Ofelia and her family. Thanks to Dr. Valliani, Dr. Hason, 5th floor nursing staff at ORMC, the staff at Madison Medical Lodge, her social worker Anita, Texas Home Health, Interim Health Care and Hospice, her longtime caregiver Corina Adame.
