Melva Janette (Veatch) Oldvader, 87, of Raytown, MO passed away on January 8, 2021. She was born on July 8, 1933 in Brunswick, MO and was the daughter of Jerald Francis and Mary Jane (Porterfield) Veatch where she also attended school.
On May 27, 1951, she married Norris Wayne Oldvader who preceded her in death on August 2, 2020. During the 1950’s Mrs. Oldvader was employed by Allied Building Credits. After that she was employed by, and retired from, the Raytown C-2 School District serving 20 years with the last 10 years as the executive secretary to the Assistant Superintendent. In 1995, she retired to be available to work with Kevin’s growing business.
Through the years, she took interest in selling Avon and was involved in the activities of her children which included the 4H Club and was a leader in both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She served as a charter member of the Southview Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by her son Kevin (wife Joy) of Kansas City and a grandson, JC Curfman (wife Lindsey). Also surviving is her brother Jerry Veatch of Kansas City. Her daughter Debbie preceded her death along with her parents and stepfather (Herbert Sewell). Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 at the Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee’s Summit, MO.
