Anni Loewen died peacefully on May 14, 2025 at the Mayfair Care Home surrounded by family at the age of 84. She was born Anni Falkowsky on July 13, 1940, in Niederchortitze Russia. Her mother at the time lost three children and her husband. Anni was the only survivor. Her mother, Maria remarried Victor Penner and immigrated to Paraguay, South America in 1948. They were dropped off and told to make a life for themselves. It took a lot of hard work to clear land and build a home. The family grew by eight more children who Anni helped to raise, while her mom worked to feed all those children. She matured quickly and at nineteen fell in love with Arthur Loewen. They were married November 11, 1959. In 1960 she had her first child Elly and in 1962 Frank was born. Her parents and siblings immigrated to Canada in 1961 and Anni missed her family so much that Art decided to move to Canada as well. In Canada, with hard work and help from his sponsor, they made a good life for themselves. In 1966 they had another daughter Doris and ten years later in 1977 they had a son Chris. Anni was always caring for someone, she would feed anyone who came to her door. She was a wonderful host and deeply loved her family.
