I recently heard of Arthur Dirks' passing.
I remember him as a kind and gentle person who encouraged others.

I was sadden to read Arthur's obituary in our local Selkirk paper but it brought back many wonderful memories I had working with him at Gerdau Steel in the 70's and 80's.  From the stories of living on Hecla Island to growing cucumbers on a vacant lot in Selkirk to sell to a canning plant in Winnipeg these are but a few of the memories I have of Arthur.  I will sum it up by saying it was privilege to have have worked with him and to have carried his tool tray, although he didn't let me do it often as he insisted he could carry his own tools! 
Arthur, I'm sure you are in a wonderful place with your family who have gone before. 

My sincere condolences to the Arthur Dirks  family.   I was saddened to hear of Arthur’s passing and yet I know he is now happy to be with Mabel.   I remember meeting Arthur and Mabel at the Dirks reunions in Saskatchewan.  He was such a kind man and always took such an interest in the history of our Dirks ancestors.  Sincerely,   Bob Dirks. Dear Susan, Terry & Tim and family members
Your dad was such a sweet man. I was priviledged to be his niece and have fond memories of visits of him and your mom when I was younger. It had been a long time since I had talked to him, tho, but recently he was on my mind and I guess I was on his and we had the chance to visit on the phone just a few short months ago. He shared with me how much he longed to go to heaven to be with his wife. And then he said these words "she was my greatest delight" ... how like your dad to speak those kind words. It will be a memory I cherish.

Our sincere condolences to the family.  We have very fond memories of both your Mom and Dad.  We enjoyed some lovely visits with them both and in recent years with your Dad.  He was so very kind and gentle.  A treasure and faithful servant of our Lord.  You will miss his earthly presence.  May all your wonderful memories bring comfort and knowing he is in the presence of the Lord be reassuring.

I had the absolute pleasure of being a caregiver for Art. He was a man of great wisdom and encouragement. He would always great you with a smile and word of encouragement. He spoke often of being prepared for his heavenly home and that has been granted. His family was his pride a joy and my condolences go out to you.

Our heartfelt thoughts are with you both and The Dirks Family during this time. We have fond memories of Arthur when he would visit your home in Lockport, MB.  He was a true gentleman with a very kind heart.

Uncle Art was a very special person.  The words that mosts exemplify who  he was are kind, caring, gentle and generous.  When he asked how you were, it wasn't superficial, he was genuinely interested.  
I remember he was at our home after I baked my first cake.  He treated that cake as though it was the best thing he ever tasted and made me feel so special and loved.  We will miss seeing him.
