Bruno is predeceased by his beloved wife Diane, his mother and father, Irma and Ferrucio, and his brother Gino.
He is survived by his two daughters, Gina and Marina, and his treasured Grandson, Anthony.
Bruno is also survived by his sister Barb (Bill), brother Jack (Colette), and by many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Bruno was born on June 17, 1945 in Rocca D’Arsie P. Belluno, Italy. On April 12, 1954, his mother Irma, his siblings Barb and Jack, and Bruno moved to Canada to join his father, Ferrucio and his other brother Gino who were waiting for them. They arrived in Halifax on April 22, 1954. They continued by rail across Canada. He would often tell stories about how he did not know the English language when he arrived in Canada, making school rather difficult for him.
Just like he handled all challenges in his life , he persevered and overcame the language barrier. Bruno went on to finish high school at Abbotsford Senior Secondary, and graduate post-secondary school at Simon Fraser University with a teaching degree. He moved to Kamloops, and taught elementary school, where he met his wife, a fellow teacher, Diane.
After his brother Gino passed away, Bruno and Diane moved to Abbotsford. He went on to have a long and successful career as an Elementary School Teacher with the Surrey School District. He retired after over 40 years of teaching, and was well respected and esteemed by fellow colleagues. He made many friends over the years of teaching, and loved attending the Retired Teachers luncheons to catch up with former colleagues.
After his wife Diane lost her courageous battle with cancer, Bruno was left to raise his two teenage daughters at the time. He was an amazing father, always protecting his girls and wanting the best for them.
Bruno's most cherished gift was his Grandson, Anthony. He loved being a Grandpa. Bruno and Anthony shared a special bond and regularly made trips to Starbucks and A&W together. They were known around town as the cutest Grandpa and Grandson duo. He also really enjoyed watching Anthony play basketball and being very involved in his life.
Bruno was a very talented gardener, and some of his favorite moments were spent outside tending to his flower beds. His garden was absolutely stunning and brought him so much peace and joy.
When Bruno wasn’t spending time in his garden, or with his Grandson, he enjoyed watching movies. We are pretty sure he has seen every single movie that was ever made.
He also enjoyed reading, and you could often find him relaxing with a novel and a Sanpellegrino.
Bruno was a kind-hearted, steadfast, and gentle man. Those of us who were lucky enough to know him, or chatted with him are left with very fond memories.
His family will miss him very much, but his legacy will live on through his children, and his Grandson.
