I remember going to Cub meetings with Charlie's sons and meeting Charlie and the rest of the Montreal Canadiens when they came to our Cub meeting one night way back in 1964! It was amazing! We were all given autographed hockey cards of the team! What stands out to me was Charlie was very friendly and his smile was sincere! I felt at ease around him. My sincerest of condolences to his family for their loss. I remember him fondly. RIP Charlie Hodge

I extend my condolences to the Hodge famikly for your loss which I just found out about. 
I first met Charlie in August, 1961 at the Eastern Hockey Clinic in Worcester, Massachusetts run by Jack Riley (West Point Hockey coach, and coach of the US Olympic Hockey team that won the Winter Olympics in 1960 who died in February 2016) where I was trying to learn to be a goalie. I learned the basics of goal tending but wasn't good enough to find a position in the local Pee Wee hockey league. I am honored to have known Charlie.

Dear Sheila, my sincere condolences go out to you and your family for your loss.
My friendship with Charlie went back more than 75 years when we played ball hockey on George v Avenue in Lachine, Quebec. Shortly afterwards I invited Charlie to join us to play in the Lachine Church Hockey League. I believe that this is where Charlie's career began. With his ambition, hard work and help from "Hockey people" his career flourished. I must say that I was not in the least surprised with the way his career evolved. While Charlie was relatively small in stature he was very large in his toughness, determination, integrity, caring and compassion.  Although we have not seen each other since he took us on a tour of Vancouver about 23 years ago, he has been the subject of many conversations over these years. Thank you for your friendship.

We were next door neighbours of Charlie's for many years. We had great laughs and he would call himself an old goat! Well we were the same age so we would remind him who he was calling that! He was a super Papa specially to Cameron and gave him such patience. He would show us his pics of the Hockey days and so wonderful to see! You are missed Charlie but that much higher hockey team up there is waiting for you! Have been away or would have paid my respects in person.. Fly high my friend...Elaine Lauzon

Dear Mrs. Hodge,Please accept my condolences on behalf of my late father,Evan Wake(deceased 2002-age 89) who fondly referred to your husband as"my friend Charlie".I remember you kindly invited my to a few games at the Forum when my Dad was unavailable.I was in my teens so it was always a thrill.
I grew up to be a judge in Toronto but news of Charlie's passing reminded me fondly of my youth in Montreal.

My deepest heart-felt condolences go out to Sheila and the Hodge family. I just now learned of Charlie's passing and I wish I was able to make the trip back to the west coast to offer my support in person. Charlie was every bit the character he was said to be and I feel very fortunate to have known him briefly while helping him sort out his computer situation. To my friend Sheila: thank you for introducing a former goalie to one of his hockey heroes.

We shared many good times with Charlie on his NHL Scouting trips to Victoria. We are grateful our paths crossed in life.

My Condolences to Sheila and the family!! Thinking of all of you!

I'll always be grateful to Charlie and Mrs. Hodge for stepping in to guide a bunch of Midget hockey players when they needed some direction, on ice and off.  Our condolences to Mrs. Hodge and the family.  A great character - he'll be missed.  John Keenleyside.

Charlie was a hockey hero of mine (I'm a big fan of small goalies) and a great friend to me and my family. I first got to meet Charlie when he coached me and my brother Tom in Junior hockey(Langley Canadiens). It was a great experience as his sons, Johnny and Jimmy were also on the team and we all enjoyed his humour, his wisdom, his dedication and that long wisp of his hair that would fly around his head when he would be in a rage behind the bench. Years later Charlie would invite me to join him on some scouting trips to Seattle and Kamloops and while his driving was suspect, I always enjoyed that time and the stories and chats we shared.     
Charlie and Sheila also provided real estate services for my parents who valued their expertise and friendship.
My condolences to Sheila, Johnny, Jimmy and Jason and their families. I pray they are granted the graces they need during this sorrowful time. Charlie was a great goalie, insightful coach and more importantly a caring and compassionate man.

Thanks for the good jokes you always shared with all of us at the N.S.W.C.

My sincerest condolences to the Hodge Family. As someone who met Charlie at the rink and was one of those "helpers "there , we all saw the passion that Charlie brought to both his job but most importantly to his family. May we all share the wonderful memories of a great man. Rest in Peace Charlie.

 Rest in peace my friend.  The most enjoyable time in hockey was the six working together with the Penguins.

Charlie was one of the great characters of the game and an absolute delight during the times we met to speak for feature stories I would write. His perseverance and stellar play in high-pressure situations made him one of the most unsung players of his era, a truly deserving multiple Stanley Cup champion and Vézina Trophy winner.

Rest in peace, Charlie, and thank you for bringing so much joy to so many fans and friends over the years. I'll deeply miss calling you to shoot the breeze and to hear your unique, profound views of hockey, both of yesterday and today.
