Moira, Ginny & Cindy 
1959, Mountain View Elementary School, Doreen Young and Audrey Loncaster (Scott) became very close friends for the next 64 years. 

I first met Doreen in 1958 when I arrived in Vancouver from England and went to teach at Mountain View school in Coquitlam.  We taught together for 3 years and became very good friends. 
My husband and I went back to England for 6 years then in 1967 my daughter and I arrived back in Vancouver. Lisa and I had no home to go to so Fion came and picked us up and Doreen insisted that we lived with them for the next 6 months. We became part of the Young family. 
They were very compassionate and we will never forget their kindness. 
When the Young’s moved to Winnipeg, Doreen invited Lisa and I to spend a very special Christmas with them. It was bitterly cold but lots of fun. 
Doreen and I were very involved in music and sang in the Coquitlam church choir.  We had a fantastic holiday in Europe together. We were invited to 
sing O Sole Mio with a tenor in a Rome restaurant! 
I will treasure my memories of the weekends I spent with them at Eagle Mtn. 
I was always amazed at Doreen’s energy. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her. She loved hosting dinner parties and was a very good cook. We loved playing games together. We enjoyed going to the US to the casino, she was quite lucky! 
Doreen was very faithful to her church. I loved to go with Fion on Sunday mornings and hear her sing in the choir, often doing solos. 
Doreen always made sure I was never alone at holiday times, she was more like a sister to me and the Young’s were like a family to Lisa and I. We were friends for 64 years and helped each other through good times and difficult periods. I’m so glad you came into my life Doreen, good bye my friend, I’ll miss you! Love always Audrey. 

Dear Moira, Ginny and Cindy,
I was indeed sad to hear that my friend Doreen had died on March 17th. We had not seen much of each other these past couple of years but I had often stayed for a few days with Doreen a couple of times a year and we always had a good time and enjoyed each other's company.
We had known each other since she and Fionn and the girls arrived in Richmond and joined Gilmore Park United. Doreen had directed the choir at GPUC while I was the organist. That went on for most of a year until a professional musician, organist,  was found  that could direct the choir also.
Al and Doreen shared the same birthday date December 13th, so we often dined together and celebrated their special day.
I enjoyed my short chat with Moira and do hope that Ginny and Cindy are keeping as well as possible.
Unfortunately I will not be coming out to the celebration of life for Doreen as I get a bit anxious when in territory that I am not too familiar with. I too am 90 and still drive locally and keep very well.
I would appreciate if one of you would keep in touch, say at Christmas time as I care about each of you.
