It is with mixed feelings of sorrow and joy that we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who went to be with her Lord on May 19, 2025. She is now residing in her eagerly awaited Forever Home!
Erna was born in 1923 in Russia and immigrated to Canada with her parents as a toddler. She later married her husband John in Chilliwack, in 1946. They raised their family in Chilliwack, Coaldale, Calgary and Abbotsford. They retired in Abbotsford where her husband predeceased her in 2017.
She was a wonderful mother to five children, Joyce (Gary), Richard (deceased), Evelyn (Erv), Art, and Donald (Janet). She delighted in and was so loved by 8 grandkids, and 14 greats.
She is remembered by family, friends and caregivers for her beautiful smile and gentle spirit.
Our family would like to thank Menno Place for providing support and fostering connection for our mother. We especially want to thank her caregivers in Menno Hospital for their loving care for her in her later years. As well thank you Dr. William Chan for your exemplary care.
Erna leaves behind a legacy of faith, service and love.
She will be deeply missed.
