John Edward Lenzmann

He was born in Rosetown, SK, to Hermann and Marie (Dick) Lenzmann, the youngest of eleven children, one of whom died in childhood.

The family moved to Abbotsford BC in 1946, at which time John began his post secondary education.

He married Erna Epp in 1953. They had three daughters.

John taught elementary school from 1952 – 1988 in BC, the last 32 years in the Abbotsford School District.

John served Bakerview MB Church as Sunday School teacher, Council member, Bible study leader, and choir member.

In retirement, John volunteered at the MCC Thrift Store and the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program for close to 20 years. He also enjoyed travelling with Erna and spending time with grandchildren.

John is predeceased by his wife, Erna in 2021, his parents, and all of his siblings. Memories of John will long be cherished by his children Ruth (Paul) Tarasenko of Abbotsford, Janet Lenzmann of Sunnyvale, California, and Karen Lenzmann of Abbotsford; grandchildren Cynthia Tarasenko (Erik Bailey), Steven Tarasenko, Alex Friesen, Marina Friesen, and Carly Friesen; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

We wish to thank the staff and volunteers of Christine Morrison Hospice for their loving care of John and his family.

A memorial service for John will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Bakerview MB Church, 2285 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, BC V2T2X4. Live streaming link will be posted when it is available.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to MCC and LCC International University.
