Judy married Doug in 1958 and resided in Lynn Lake, Manitoba where they began their incredible story together, including the birth of their first two children, Sandie and Keri. Their journey took them to BC in 1965 and later resided in Coquitlam, BC where Marnie was born. Eventually, the family permanently settled in Abbotsford where Judy spent her working career as a medical receptionist in the lab at the MSA Hospital. Judy’s life was rich and full of long-lasting friendships. She stayed in contact with many of them from her childhood and with all the new ones she met along the way throughout her years. Judy was the life of every party and always game for any adventure. Her infectious laugh could be heard for miles and her smile would light up any room.
Judy enjoyed curling, singing, dancing, going to the gym, participating with the Abbotsford Theatre Guild, spending winters in Palm Springs, watching hockey games (especially the Grandson’s) and dedicated her life to raising her three girls. With a great family background of dancers from Scotland, she ensured her girls would dance. Highland dancing, among other genres became an extensive part of her family’s life. She spent endless hours supporting all their dance lessons and activities. Gram was always there to lend a hand with all the grandchildren and so enjoyed the great grandchildren too.
She never missed a dance out performance or year-end recital. She loved to travel to all the competitions celebrating dance with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cherished dance friends. Her travels took her across Canada, the US, over the pond to Scotland and to England many times. Judy loved the Highland Games, particularly the thrill of the massed pipe bands marching down the fields.
Mum, you were our Queen. Your kind heart, beautiful voice, bright blue eyes and million dollar smile will be sorely missed. You were the most incredible wife, mum, sister, aunt, friend and Gram a family could ask for. We will hear you singing Sweet Caroline, The Bonnie Wee Pudding song at Christmas, We’re No Awa’ Tae Bide Awa’ and many more tunes for years to come. You will always be forever in our hearts … “Ggabhaibh fois ann an sith” (May You Rest In Peace)
… Until We Meet Again.
