Another school year is soon beginning, and it will be time for the retired teachers to toast their working friends.  I will miss Jug's presence at the ABC.  Jug was such a dear friend who always made me laugh.  Since he passed away, I have often thought of him.  A group of us had some fun times at West Heights, which will never be forgotten.  Thank you for the laughs and for your friendship, LBJ!

I recently learned of Mr.Sangara's passing, and was very sad to hear the news.  He was an amazing teacher, the best teacher I ever had.  Mr.Sangara really made a difference in my life while he was my teacher at West Heights - I'll never forget his kindness.  RIP.  - Jennifer

I was a student of Mr. Sangara at West Heights about 21 years ago. I was in his grade 6 class and remember his kind, energetic and humorous personality. I always found class materials a bit more interesting because of the manner in which he presented it. However, that was a long time ago and my memory has faded some. But he did leave a lasting memory when he took action against some bullying.  He wasn't just there to teach. He took time to see and hear his students and the day to day interactions that occurred.  I can't count the times that I've told that story to various people in my life and will someday share with my children when they are older. Mr. Sangara, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you did for me and for what you've taught me. I am a stronger individual today because of how you protected the 11 year old girl I was back then. Thank you and may God rest your soul in peace.

I am so sad that Jug has left us.  I met Jug at West Heights school. He was my "big buddy". It was my pleasure to teach with Jug.  I loved his smile, his humour, and his nicknames. Mine was "Nancaline".  He made people feel special. Jug will not be forgotton. My deepest sympathy to Daljit, Ravi, Mani, and other family members.

I was saddened to hear of Jug's passing.Although I hadn't seen Jug in 40 years I was kept up to date on his life by mutual friends in Victoria.Jug and I attended Quadra School in Victoria around the same time.He was my patrol captain in those years.We went on to SJ Willis and Vic High and were students at Uvic together for a while until we went our separate ways.I was glad to learn that Jug became a teacher as his caring ways were evident during our formative years.From the other comments I see that Jug was well loved and appreciated by his fellow teachers.Rest in peace,my friend.

Jug leaves a legacy of thoughtfulness and joy. Special spirits, like his, live on forever. I will always remember him as a dear friend.

I knew Jug from West Heights School. I will always remember his smile. He will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him.

Jug you were so appreciated by teachers in the school district.  I was fortunate enough to meet you in my first year of teaching in the district.  As others have stated, your humour, wonderful smile and friendship will be dearly missed.  May you be at peace in a better place.

Jug quite simply made me laugh. I met him years ago in his West Heights classroom and we worked together transitioning his students to high school. he was encouraging and supportive when I made the move to elementary. 
We usually ran into each other in the pouring rains of April on the discus field, and huddled under an umbrella ( probably his). He always bolstered my flagging spirits.
Jug was a gentle man in the truest sense. He cared for his colleagues and his students equally. I always looked up to him as the very finest role model. The world is a little lonelier without him , but it is certainly enriched. I am saddened by his passing and my heartfelt condolences to his family.  Mary Philpot

Jug, you were a precious gem placed upon this earth.  
You were the catalyst in bringing cultures together.
Like stardust, you scattered your smile with a sprinkling of humour along your life's pathway.
But now that you are gone we are left with a big hole in our heart.
Jug, you will truly be missed by all those who had the fortune to meet you.
May your family cherish the times that they had with you and proceed on with life, as you would have wished them to.

And so, more than 200 people came together today to say goodbye to a very good man.  Jug and I served on community committees together over many years, and I always enjoyed working with him, as we engaged in attempts at witty repartee.  I know he was widely and highly regarded by all who knew him.  As his illness presented its challenges, Jug remained upbeat and positive, amazing though that was, given his prognosis.  Admirable to the end.  Jug will be missed by many, which is the very best that can said of any of us.

Jug will be remembered for his great sense of humour, the infinite pots of tea he brewed and served in the Windebank staffroom and, above all, his kindness to all.  My condolences to his family.

I will always remember the early mornings at Windebank when Jug was there to greet me with a smile and a funny thought for the day.  Rest in peace LBJ.

Jug, you continually put others before you and always knew how to bring laughter to all situations. Your kindness and caring ways will be missed. Rest in peace dear friend.

It was a pleasure to meet you and work with you at the MTU. You provided many insights and great support during many stressful times.  Rest in peace.

Your kindness and gentle sense of humour will be missed, Jug.  You were a wonderful role model in the Mission School District and in the community. A dedicated teacher, a loving husband and father, a genuine friend. An honor to have known you since your days in Dawson Creek in the seventies as you started your teaching career. Strength to Daljit, Ravi and Mani in these sad times.
