

Kornelius Pauls passed away into the presence of the Lord on April 1, 2017 at the Holmberg House Hospice after a short illness of pancreatic cancer. Kornelius Pauls was born in Franztal, Ukraine on August 6, 1926. In 1943, he fled with his mother and siblings to Germany and ended up in Volendam, Paraguay. Here he married Anna Schmidt in 1948 and emigrated to Germany with his family of 3 children. Then, after 2 years, emigrated to Canada, settling in Kitchener/Waterloo. He worked in the automotive industry as tool and die maker until his retirement. In 1999 he and Anna moved to Abbotsford, where Anna died 2 years later. He married Lena Thiessen in 2002 and became part of a new family.
Kornelius was a hard-working, generous man who loved socializing. His faith was important to him and was lived out in various ways, including volunteering his time and energy liberally in the Kitchener MB Church. His children and grandchildren benefited from all of his wood working projects, tree-cutting, rainwater-collecting systems, etc. He was a gifted and skilled worker, repurposing old things. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Lena, his daughters, Helene (Peter) Horban and Anne (Ken) Plett, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the Thiessen families.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:00 am at Eben-Ezer Mennonite Church, 2051 Windsor Street, Abbotsford, BC.
