October 3, 1925 - September 18, 2021
On September 18, 2021 at the age of 95 our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather crossed over from this life to eternity with his Lord and Saviour. Kurt Gramsch was born on October 3, 1925 in Saarbrucken, Germany to Johann and Anna Maria Katharina (Kilburger) Gramsch. He is predeceased by his older brother Heinz. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada with his wife and their young daughter where they lived in Winnipeg until 1956, then making Windsor, Ontario their new home for the next 33 years. During this time their second daughter was born. Kurt worked for Chrysler for awhile and then was employed as a machinist by Hiram Walker & Sons until he retired after 26 years of service in 1989. Kurt and his wife relocated to Abbotsford B.C. to be closer to family, sadly three years into retirement the love of his life Elisabeth passed away from A.L.S. at the age of 67. Kurt spent the next 29 years continuing to live each day to the fullest. He was always ready to help anyone when needed. He enjoyed singing in the choir, photography, making greeting cards, writing poetry, baking, skiing, swimming, hiking and walking. Kurt always participated in the annual walk for A.L.S. His home was always open to many relatives and friends whom he enjoyed touring around beautiful B.C. and Alberta. Kurt absolutely loved adventure and travelled to many countries of the world. At the age of 89 he went zip lining, river tubing, parasailing and climbed Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica. Not long ago Kurt enjoyed cruising to Alaska for his 94th birthday. Most of all he loved his family dearly spending time with them as much as possible. Kurt also loved and appreciated his church family very much. Kurt is predeceased by his loving wife Elisabeth (Witt) of 43 years and most recently Walter Witt his best friend and brother-in-law. Kurt is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his daughters Christel (Gerhard), Noreen (Ralph), grandchildren Bernard, Andrew (Jennifer), great-grandchildren Eric and Jayden. He will also be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Hilde Witt, nieces, nephews and friends in both Canada and Germany. The family would like to especially thank Dr. C. Moodley for his care, as well as the Palliative Care Unit of Abbotsford Regional Hospital. A Celebration of Kurt's Life will be held at Northview Community Church in the West Court at 32040 Downes Rd, Abbotsford, B.C. at 1 p.m on September 28th. There will be no reception following the service.
