On December 22, 2024, at the age of eighty-five, Linda Marjorie Willms peacefully passed away and went to her eternal home in the presence of the Lord. Linda’s life began in Kelstern Saskatchewan where she was born on March 29, 1939, the youngest in a family of seven children. She spent her early childhood years on the family farm in Kelstern and then at the age of ten moved together with her family to B.C. in the fall of 1947. From there Linda attended and graduated from Princess Margaret High School in Surrey in 1956 and Bethany Bible School in 1961 with a diploma in Bible and Music. Throughout her years of employment Linda worked in various settings including five years with the Vancouver General Hospital; a four-year period in Hillsboro Kansas, and for over twenty years as office manager with the Prison Ministry M2W2. She also had brief periods of employment with Kilarney Park M.B. Church and Kennedy Heights M.B. Church in office administration.
Early in Linda’s life her mother led her to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, and as she was baptized and grew into a deeper, more personal understanding of her faith, it became a centering point for her life decisions and response to life’s challenges. Like the rest of her family Linda had a deep love for music and singing, which found expression in many ways and settings both formally and informally throughout her life. Also, together with her older sister Olga, they expressed their genuine heart for people through an informal ministry of prayer and encouragement, often coming alongside people in need. This became a primary focus and mission in their lives together. In the later years of Linda’s life this same heart was evident by the loving influence she had with the residents in her complex, many of whom experienced this through her prayers and emotional support. Many, including family, have been touched by Linda’s warmth, and encouragement throughout the years. Although Linda remained single all of her life she had a deep heart of love for her extended family, especially her many nieces and nephews, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Linda is survived by her sister-in-law Alice Willms, along with many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends that loved her and mourn her loss. She is predeceased by her parents Abram and Mary Willms, and her siblings and their spouses’ Ab and Alice Willms, Mary and Elmer Voth, Henry and Vi Willms, Helen and Jake Priebe, Olga Willms, and Al Willms.
A Celebration of Life gathering is being planned by family for Saturday, January 25 at 3pm. Please email [email protected] for details.
