Paul leaves behind his loving parents, Frank & Anne Reimer. His ex-wife Toni Zerbo and his two son’s Adam and Luke. Lastly his 2 brothers, Kevin (Maggie) Reimer and Gordon (Tracy) Reimer, along with nieces and nephews: Morgan, Cole, Colleen, Bryce and Janelle.
Paul was born in Delta, B.C. on May 25, 1973. Same date as his niece (and 1st grandchild to the Reimer family) Morgan.
In 1977, the family moved to an acreage in Aldergrove and this is where Paul grew up. He spent his childhood and teenage years living the farm life, learning how to work and play, growing raspberries and raising chickens and beef.
In February of 1981 at age of 7, Paul was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This was a huge life change for Paul and also his parents. However, Paul faced it with strength and grace. He didn’t allow diabetes to limit what he could do. Paul also struggled with Tourette’s syndrome which was controlled with medication, but later Paul found non-medicinal techniques to manage it. He was always open to exploring options for his health.
Paul attended County Line Elementary School and then MEI in Abbotsford from grade 8-12. Paul then worked as a camp counsellor at Camp Stillwood and took 1 year at Columbia Bible College. Paul’s love for helping people led him to become a Teacher’s Assistant where he was first employed with the Surrey School District and then with the Abbotsford School District for three years. He loved kids and had a special heart for people with personal challenges.
Paul was raised in Bethel Mennonite Church and loved Jesus. He enjoyed Sunday school, Brigade Boys Club and Youth Group where he made many friends. Paul spent many summers at Camp Squeah, near Hope BC. In 1991, Paul was baptised along with his brother Kevin…a proud moment for Frank and Anne.
Paul married Toni in 2000 and they were together for 17 years. Together they had two amazing boys, Adam and Luke. Paul loved spending time with his boys and were often seen building projects together. They have many memories of their adventures camping, fishing and a mutual love for music. Paul and the boys always seemed to be busy building, creating or learning new skills together as a family. Today, we see Paul in his boys, Adam with his quiet reflective side where he just gets the job done and Luke with his sense of adventure and his ‘Why not try it’ attitude.
Paul enjoyed music, playing drums, guitar and piano. For many years he had his own sound company called Revolution Sound. Many evenings and weekends Paul set up and managed sound for concerts and venues reaching from Abbotsford to Downtown Vancouver. In the last few years Paul really took to playing the piano again creating many songs which he played with friends. Paul was also an artist and in the last few years seemed to take refuge in developing his skill. Just as Paul lead a colorful life, his art reflected the same, using dramatic colors to convey what his soul was saying.
Paul had a unique loving heart for people. He had a special ability to relate to the less fortunate. He also had a gentle, non- judgemental, loving, quiet way about him which served him well both in his career choice as well as his love for the church. Paul grew up in the church and spent many hours behind the mixing board serving in the way he best could. Paul loved the Lord and today we hold fast to the belief that he is reunited with our Saviour, laughing, singing and complete in his perfect body.
John 10:27-28
‘My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.’
