Peter Reimer

His beloved wife, Gisela Rosella Isaac, predeceased him on December 15, 2012.

He will be missed by his siblings: John, Frank (Anne), Bill (Ruth) and Annie; his daughters: Rosella (Jim and former spouse Derrick) and Ruth (Jim), son Peter Terry (Joanne), his 12 grandchildren, and his 9 great-grandchildren. Predeceased: Parents John and Anna, sisters-in-law: Viola and Erna, brother-in-law: Adolf, and son-in-law: Roger.

He was born in Kronstal, Ukraine on November 17, 1932, to Peter John Reimer and Anna Elizabeth Braun. Peter told many stories about how their family managed to flee from the advancing Russian army from Kronstal in 1943 through Yugoslavia to Bevenrode and Grunau, Germany. In July 1949, the family emigrated to Canada, and they settled on a farm in Abbotsford, BC.

In 1956, Peter and Gisela met at Mill Lake in Abbotsford and were married on November 4, 1956. They lived at various rental places in Vancouver, BC before buying their house on Ontario Street in March 1962 where they lived for 39 years.

For 40 years, Peter was employed as a steelworker at Allied Engineering and retired as a welder on ‘Super Hot’ water tanks.

After retiring and raising their family, Peter and Gisela moved back to Abbotsford in March 2001 to be closer to his parents and brothers.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross for the BC Flood Relief. The Celebration of Life date is yet to be determined.
