Peter P Reimer

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great grandfather. He entered into the presence of the Lord Jesus at the age of 90 years. Peter was born in Blumenort, Siberia and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1926. In 1937, the Reimer family moved to Abbotsford and in 1947 Peter purchased a dairy farm on Harris Road, Matsqui. He married Stella Giesbrecht on February 8, 1948. A few months later they were forced out of their home by the flooding of the Fraser River. Peter and Stella continued on the farm until his retirement in 1978 when they moved to Abbotsford. Peter enjoyed working with his hands and often used his carpentry skills to volunteer for his church and community and in later years, turning it into a hobby, building chairs, tables and hope chests for his grandchildren and MCC. He is survived by his wife, Stella; five children, Sharon (Ben) Loewen, Luella (Dave) Thiessen, Doug (Glenda), Peter (Mariane), Shirley (Konrad) Golbeck; 22 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Rempel, Mary Reimer, and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a great granddaughter Leah Stobbe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Gideons. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sherwood Manor for their loving care during the last few years.
