He is predeceased by his parents John and Alida.
He is survived by his 3 sisters and their husbands, 7 nieces and nephews, and 8 great nieces and nephews. He also had many relatives in the Netherlands.
In Raymond's teen/early adult years, he worked with his dad on the family farm. He was an avid skier and loved to speed skate. He also enjoyed jogging, hiking, and swimming.
But above all he loved to drive.
He could drive pretty well anything that had a steering wheel and boasted a huge resume of vehicles and equipment that he could drive / operate. He worked for many years in the oil and gas industry in Northern BC and Alberta. There his vehicle skills gave him many opportunities to drive vehicles/equipment that he had always dreamed of, and even some beyond his wildest dreams. He would often call to tell us how excited he was about some new piece of equipment he had just driven.
He still had many friends from his childhood in the Barrowtown area and from also his adult life from all over BC and Alberta and he always liked to touch base with them whenever he could.
In his later years, after his Colitis diagnosis, life became hard and he had trouble dealing with this horrible disease. In the end Colitis was a major factor in his death.
