RIt is with broken hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beautiful mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, Rhonda Teresa Kampman. She left us too soon on July 11, 2025, leaving behind a space no one else can fill.
Rhonda was born at 11:03 p.m. on April 26, 1966, to June (Krause) and Berend Reitsema. She was born and raised in Abbotsford, where she spent her entire life. Rhonda often fondly recalled childhood memories of ice skating and skiing with her family.
After graduating from W.J. Mouat Secondary in 1984, she soon after met John Paul Kampman at a Bible study. They married on May 31, 1986, and spent 39 years building a life together. For 33 of those years, they lived on Devon Crescent, where they raised three children: Daniel Paul (born December 1987), Gabrielle Hope (born April 1992), and Landon John (born July 1994).
Rhonda worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for J & J Cleaning Services and 21 Degrees Hughes Heating, and also as a medical unit clerk in various settings. She later spent many treasured years as a stay-at-home mom.
Rhonda faced many health challenges over the years, but she drew deep strength from her personal relationship with Jesus. Her love was steady, and her spirit a true reflection of God’s grace and love.
She took immense pride in her family and loved them with her whole heart. Every day, in countless quiet ways, she showed that love—through thoughtful gestures, comforting words, and a presence that made you feel seen and cared for. Her family and friends will forever remember and miss her stubborn, silly, gentle, and warm-hearted presence.
She was the sweetest, kindest soul — full of warmth, laughter, and quiet strength. To be loved by her was to know safety and grace. Her presence was a gift, and her absence is felt beyond words.
Rhonda was predeceased by her father Berend Reitsema and stepfather Frank Krause. She is mourned by her mother June Krause, husband John Paul Kampman, children Daniel (Holly) Kampman, Gabrielle Kampman, and Landon (Joelle) Kampman; her grandchildren Cade, Everly, Scotlyn, Tyce, Georgia, and Stella Kampman; and her brother Jupi (Selena) Reitsema, as well as many other family members and friends.
Rhonda has found rest and joy in the arms of Jesus, where sorrow and pain can no longer touch her. In His embrace, she is now safe and rejoicing.
2 Corinthians 5:8
“We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord”
Revelation 21:4
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain”
We will gather to honour her life and the love she so freely gave on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 1:30 PM at New Life Christian Reformed Church, 35270 Delair Rd, Abbotsford, British Columbia V3G 2E2.
