Robbie was born on August 13, 1958, in Flin Flon, Manitoba to Bernard and Dolyce (Cathcart) Grimmelt.
When he was two years old the family moved to Snow Lake where he grew up and went to school.
Rob had a fun life in a young town – taking part in sports – hockey, curling, fishing while attending school. He learned to play the guitar and banjo at a young age and soon he and his friends formed a band that they set up in the basement of his family home.
In 1977 Rob and his childhood sweetheart, Andrea Haczkewicz moved to Regina where they gave birth to a beautiful little boy on Dec. 2., after which they moved to Edmonton to be near her family. Sadly, little Robbie passed away from Crib Death at the age of six months.
A few years later, Rob met Kathy Letendre and they had another son, Bradley James who lives in Red Deer, Alberta.
Rob was predeceased by his son Robert Shawn Daniel, his beloved Nana and Opa – Ben and Thyri Grimmelt, his father Bernie, his grandmother Margaret Simpson who he always called “Mom”, three uncles Roger, Tommy and Murray.
He is survived by his son Bradley, his mother Dolyce Brown, his sister Michelle, two brothers – Ben (Alix) and Bryan (Joy), five aunts – Hope, Frances, Joyce, Karen and Leila, three nieces, two nephews and his best friend Calvin (Connie) Capp of Abbotsford, B.C., and many more friends and acquaintances.
Rob became a born-again Christian so I believe he is safe in the arms of Jesus.
