Ronald John Schulte was born on May 16, 1927 in Strome, Alberta. He is the fourth of nine children and grew up on the farm with his five brothers, Val, Harold, Jerry, Allan, and Larry and three sisters, Marian, Mackie, and Terri. In 1945 his family moved to Enderby, B.C. where he got started into the logging business by buying a horse for skidding logs. He later bought a Cat and a truck and over the years he bought several new trucks and hauled logs and poles from all over the interior of B.C.
Ron met Donna (nee Baumle) and after a brief engagement they were married in Camrose Alberta on Oct 27, 1952 and settled in Mabel Lake, B.C. which was the start of the 61 years that they shared together.
In 1967 after driving logging truck for many years Ron and Donna bought a farm in Grindrod, B. C. but Ron still drove truck for Sure-Crop Feeds. After three years on the farm he moved his family to Quesnel where he was hauling logs and then changed careers to being a heavy duty mechanic. Once again he went back to his love of the land and bought a farm near Dragon Lake.
In 1990 after a major heart attack he retired and he and Donna moved to Chase, B.C. where they enjoyed a lot of fishing trips and gardening. In 2004 they moved to Abbotsford to be close to his son Jim and Kathy. Ron spent a lot of time helping out and doing fixing jobs at the apartment building where they lived and for his sons and grandchildren. He was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand throughout his life.
Through many different health challenges over the past 6 months he remained full of gratitude for each day of life. He was at peace with the fact that he had a beautiful family and had lived his life to the full.
