Tetje "Teresa" Prins

Teresa grew up in Hallum, Friesland, and immigrated to Canada in 1951, along with her parents, Jacob and Johanna Stelpstra, as well as her siblings, Berend and his family, Art and his wife Grace, and Keith who was single at the time.

Early on she worked as a house cleaner and did factory work. But later on, she worked as a Registered Nurse’s Assistant at CPRI in London, Ontario, caring for children with special needs.

In 1981 she visited BC in order to meet Auke Prins, who was widowed. They were married on July 31, 1982, and had 25 fine years together; first on the farm near Deroche, and then in their new home on McCorkle Street in Abbotsford.

After her husband, Auke, died in 2007, she moved to Cascade Court where she enjoyed the company of several friends. When she had some health concerns, she moved to The Mayfair in Abbotsford, where she received loving care until she passed away.

Teresa was predeceased by her husband Auke, her parents Jacob and Johanna Stelpstra, her brother Berend, and several of her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her sister Alice, her brothers Art and Keith, numerous nephews and nieces, and her stepsons John and Perry. She is also survived by special friends Thea Mulder and Nikki Vanderwal.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
