Valerie Ann Grasso

Valerie Ann Grasso, late of Abbotsford BC, passed away on April 16, 2020 at the age of 86. She is survived by her loving family; children Chris (Mich), Dave (Lori), 5 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

Valerie is predeceased by her son Robert (3 months), and her parents, Chester and Cecelia Roe.

In her younger years, Valerie worked at McCormick’s sorting and packing candy. She also worked at Parkwood Hospital, where she ran the cafeteria. Valerie lived in London, Ontario for most of her life. Her former husband was in the Canadian Armed Forces, which led to her briefly living in Regina, Saskatchewan, where her son Dave was born; and Victoria, BC, where her daughter Chris was born. In 1957 Valerie moved back to London Ontario, where she lived until 2015 when her family moved her to Abbotsford to be close to her in her final years.

Valerie had a love for adventure and enjoyed travelling. She loved hot air balloons and went up in them twice. In celebration of her life, her daughter and granddaughter will be taking her up for one last hot air balloon adventure before her urn is placed in the grave that she will share with her predeceased son.

The family would like to thank Menno Home for the care she received in the last 5 years of her life.

Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Valerie’s life will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Abbotsford BC. Valerie will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, Valerie would like donations to be made to the Children’s Hospital.
