1939 Bill was born in Toledo, Ohio, January 26, 1939
1945 At age 6, Bill moved to Grand Valley, Ontario to be raised by his grandmother on the farm
1956 Bill, at age 17 spent 3 yrs in the Canadian Navy and travelled the world
1959 Bill made his way to Kitchener, Ontario to settle
1960 Bill met the ‘young and lovely’ Janet Miller
1963 The two became “Mr. & Mrs.” Whaley
1964 Daughter Kimmy was born
1966 Bill pursued his love of being a salesman and was hired by McCain Foods to be sales rep for the Toronto market
1967 By this time Bill was promoted to sales manager of Atlantic Canada…he had found his ‘niche’ and so the journey has begun
1969 Another promotion took Bill and family to BC where Bill became sales manager for Alberta and British Columbia, but it didn’t end there. Bill & family settled in Abbotsford, BC.
1972 To pursue even bigger goals, Bill bought a frozen food company in Mission, BC (a fruit and vegetable co-op) called Westvale Foods
1981 Sold Westvale Foods
1982 Joined BC Blueberry Corporation as general manager
1993 Bill wrote a business plan for a new company called Berryhill Foods, which became his pride and joy and opened in 1994
1994 Berryhill Foods came to life!
1994 Tom Philipps, a friend and first employee joined Bill in the business and became one of 8 shareholders…from here a great business partnership developed…and the title came to life as “Blueberry Bill”
