Berta Lee Fields, 92, of San Antonio and longtime resident of Abilene, entered into rest on April 23, 2016. She was born on March 1, 1924 in Paris, Texas to Otis and Minnie Pickett.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James L. Fields; infant daughter Karen Sue Fields; sisters, Margaret Crossland, Mary Pittman, Pauline "Mickey" Funk, and Dorothy Rucker.

Berta is survived by her daughter, Kathryn King and husband Harry; two grandchildren, Marc Alan Fields Smith and wife Rita, Jennifer Kathryn Tomchesson and husband Joshua; four great-grandchildren, Kathryn "Skye" Tomchesson, Jaxon Lane Tomchesson, Stephen Fields Smith and Jared Tomchesson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory Street, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, 10:00 A.M., at Elmwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookdale Patriot Heights, 5000 Fawn Meadow, San Antonio, TX 78240.
