

Graveside services will be 10:30a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in Elmwood Memorial Park with Gary Vaughn officiating under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation at 9:30a.m. on Tuesday morning at the funeral home before the service.
Betty was born on April 30, 1933 in Karnes City, TX to James and Mary Frances Turner Stites. She married James Franklin Peacock on June 25, 1955 in Abilene, TX.
She was employed by the Abilene State Supported Living Center and retired after 15 years. Betty went to Lighthouse Adult Daycare participating in dominoes and bingo. She also loved to play Yahtzee and do word searches. Betty was a Baptist.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one sister, Lucille Burfield Hignight; two brothers, Calvin Stites and James Edward Stites; and one son, Alan Dale Peacock.
Survivors include a daughter, Tommie Friske and husband, Paul of Abilene; a son, William Newell Mitchell of Corsicana; two granddaughters, Toni Vaughn and husband, Gary of Lubbock and Jessica Kirkland and husband, Aaron of Abilene; one grandson, Michael Friske and wife, Gina of Abilene; eight great-grandchildren, Laura Vaughn Adams, Hailey Vaughn, Garyn Vaughn all of Lubbock, Jordan McCannon, Tatum Friske, Julian (Beetle) Friske all of Corpus Christi and Sam and Maisy Kirkland of Abilene; and one great-great-granddaughter, Lily-Ann Vaughn of Slaton.
