Betty C. Rhodes

Betty Carol Rhodes, 69, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011. Graveside services will be 2:00p.m., Thursday September 1, 2011 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Steve Joiner officiating under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Gorman, Texas on August 2, 1942, Betty was the daughter of J. T. and Lucy Weaver. She moved to Abilene in 1956 and graduated from Abilene High School.

Betty married John Rhodes on February 28, 1969 in Abilene. She was a homemaker and loved her home and family. She had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1970 where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was active in the women's group.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, J. T. Weaver.

Survivors include her mother, Lucy Weaver of Abilene; husband, John Rhodes of Abilene; a sister Jean and husband Dr. Jim Everett of Evanston, WY; son, John Rhodes Jr. and wife Stacey of Abilene; a daughter Karen Stacy and husband Steve of Katy, TX; son, Mark Burchett and Melony of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, John and Emilee Rhodes, Steven and Austin Stacy, and Matthew and J.T. Burchett; and 2 great-grandchildren.
