

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 Monday at the funeral home.
Betty was born February 5, 1929 to Frank Kessinger and Bertha Mae Covey Kessinger in Pratt, Kansas. She was employed as a customer services supervisor for West Texas Utilities Company, retiring in 1986. Betty was a member of North Angelo Lioness Club. She was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Betty was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and was very active in her church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James D. Simpson; a brother, John Kessinger; and a sister, Beatrice Martin.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeannie Hamilton of Abilene; a brother, Rex L. Kessinger of Abilene; a sister, Sue Porterfield of California; a grandchild, Holly M. Capps of Abilene; and a great-grandchild, Kamari Smith-Capps.
