Carroll "Corky" Boland

Carroll "Corky" Norman Boland, 81, of Abilene, TX, passed away on January 19, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Corky was born in Throckmorton, Texas to Opal and Fred Boland on September 9, 1944. He attended school in Throckmorton and excelled on the football field. He furthered his football career at the University of North Texas, where he was a three-year letterman.

He was drafted into the army in 1967 and served in Vietnam. During his military service, Corky was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his bravery. Though humble about his service, it was a source of pride to his family.

Corky loved fishing at the Clearfork of the Brazos River and spending time outdoors, where he found peace and enjoyment in life’s simple moments. He was known for his steady presence, his stories, and the deep care he showed for those he loved. He was also a devoted member of College View Baptist Church, where he enjoyed fellowship with friends and family. The family extends special thanks to his healthcare workers for their compassionate care.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Boland; his son, Greg Boland and wife Jennifer; his step-daughter, Staci Danford and husband Larry Motley; his grandchildren, Brent Bollinger and wife Deanna, Tanner McDonald and wife Jessika, Brooklyn Bollinger, Taylor Moore and husband Juliin, and Brady Todd Danford; five great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Kennith Boland, Tony Boland, and Denny Boland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Fred Boland; his brothers, Douglas Boland, Charlie Boland, Gary Boland, and Johnny Boland; and his step-son, Todd Edgar.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US HWY 277 S, Abilene, Tx 79606. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at College View Baptist Church, with a burial service to follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Grace.
