Diamantina G. Hernandez

Diamantina G. Hernandez, 91, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1st at New Life Temple, 2442 Old Anson Rd. with Sr. Pastor Ezequiel Pecina and Pastor Jose Quinonez officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home. Rosary will be Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Chapel, 542 Hickory, followed by visitation 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Mrs. Hernandez was born in Mexico and moved to Abilene in 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of New Life Temple.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Francisco and Teresa Garza; her husband, Severo Hernandez in 1991; and two brothers.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Jesus and Valentina Hernandez, Jose Juan and Elvia Hernandez, and Sergio and Cathy Hernandez; six daughters and their husbands, Francisca and Gilberto Escobedo, Ernestina and Jesus Espinoza, Graciela and Juan Olivo, Elva and Rogelio Castillo, Leticia Reyes and Maricela Figueiras; one brother, Reynaldo Garza; 23 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Diamantina was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. The family wishes to give special thanks to Covenant Place and Hendrick Hospice for the loving care shown their mother.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Hernandez, Sergio Hernandez, Jr., Hector Grisham, Alain Castillo, Alex Olivo, and Hector Hernandez.
