He was born on October 10, 1931 in Eagle Rock, Missouri to Mary and Warner Prier. After graduating high school in Cassville, Mo. he entered the U.S. Navy to serve his country in the Korean War aboard the USS Consolation. He returned to Missouri and attended Drury University. He then began a successful career as a top marketing representative with Phillips Petroleum in Kansas City, Mo. That same job took him to Andover, Kansas and then to Abilene, Texas in 1977.
Buck retired in 1987, but that didn’t suit him. With a strong work ethic and a head for business he began his own company with two partners operating a chain of Texaco convenience stores in Abilene and the DFW Metroplex.
Buck loved flying and all things aviation, and was a member of the Quiet Birdmen aviation club. When he wasn’t flying he could also be found at the local airport “hangar flying” with friends. He loved the outdoors. Buck was a champion skeet and trap shooter. Having grown up in the Ozarks he learned to appreciate nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved walking the track at Red Bud Park.
Buck was loyal and a very loving father and a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
He leaves behind 4 children and their spouses, Dana Prier Dollins and husband, David; Douglas Prier and wife, Bobbi; Tiffany Prier Lamb and husband, Scott; and Rebecca Prier Gleason and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Candace Goldsby, Callie Green, Carlee and Nicholas Lamb, and Caroline, Kate, and Harris Gleason; great-grandchildren, Emma and Harper Goldsby, and Tucker Green; his beloved companion, Elizabeth Wolf; his close friend Judy Voelter, mother of his daughters, Tiffany and Rebecca.
