Donnie Pat Pattillo, 86, of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday July 4, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday July 12, 2018 in the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with burial following in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5 to 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
He was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on February 19, 1932 to Homer and Lois Pattillo. Donnie graduated from Pecos High School and attended classes at Hardin Simmons University. He married Peggy Chaney on December 9, 1950. He was a lifelong Southern Baptist and ordained to the ministry. As a devoted husband and father of three children, Donnie also spent his life in service to the Lord. He was an auto parts salesman during the week, but also worked as a bi-vocational pastor, and pastored several Southern Baptist churches in his life. He faithfully served at Harmony in Winters, Fairview in Hamlin, Maryneal, Ovalo, as well as Friendship and Westside in Abilene.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lois; 3 brothers, one of which was a twin who died at birth; a sister; and his beloved wife, Peggy, with whom he shared 67 steadfast and passionate years.
He is survived by his children, Pat Pattillo and wife Carolyn of Abilene; Cynthia Stephenson and husband Tommy of Aubrey, TX, and Robert Pattillo and wife Lynda of Abilene; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to College View Baptist Church, 2042 Anderson St. in Abilene
