Dorothy Jane Burton

Dorothy Jane Burton, 85, formally of Abilene went to be with the Lord on Wednesday August 17, 2016 at Community Hospice in Ft. Worth, TX. Funeral services will be 2:00p.m., Monday August 22, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., Abilene, TX with Mr. Adam Chisholm officiating. Burial will follow in Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, TX. Visitation will be Monday afternoon prior to the service from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born on December 3, 1930 in View, Texas. She retired from Lubbock ISD and was a faithful housewife. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, and baking.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, LC Burton, Jr. in 2009; both parents, Thomas H. Taylor and Nora Elizabeth Vaughn Taylor; as well as nine siblings. Survivors include her two sons, Larry Thomas Burton and his wife, Debbie, and Michael Dale Burton and his wife, Sandy; two granddaughters, Brandi Ogelsby, and Christina Chisholm and her husband, Adam; three great-grandchildren, Blake Thomas, Teagan Kate, and Eli Wayne Chisholm; nieces, Peggy Dunn, Rosie Cumby, Diane Brock, and Betty Stuart; and nephews, Maxie Taylor, Donny Taylor, Tommy Taylor, Kenneth Stuart, and Ronny Baird; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
