Elma Riley Sullivan

E. R. "Sully" Sullivan, 93, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 in a local medical center. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

"Sully" Sullivan was born August 4, 1917 in Wingate, Texas. He was raised and schooled in Winters, Texas. He married Mary Virginia Wallace in 1938 and was employed by West Texas Utilities Company for more than thirteen years as a meter engineer. He then went to work for General Electric Supply Co. He also owned an electric meter and instrument company for six years, before returning to General Electric Supply Co. where he retired after thirty-three years.

Mr. Sullivan married Ila Ruth Joiner in 1965. She preceded him in death in May, 1992. Survivors include one sister, Jo Watson of Abilene; two daughters, Judith Lee Miller of Little Rock, AR and Mary Margaret Lee of Kansas; two step-children, Barbara Linda Carpenter and Lonnie Alexander and several step-grandchildren. He also has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In 1999 Sully became the head of five generations.
