

Eunice Burt, 90, formerly of Abilene, passed away in North Richland Hills, Texas, on September 6, 2016. Funeral services will be held at Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 S. 20th Street in Abilene on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2 PM, with burial to follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St., Abilene.
Eunice was born in Spur, Texas, on August 8, 1926, to Charles A. and Marcy Denson. She graduated from Spur High School and later married Edward J. Burt on December 29, 1945. Eunice worked as a school secretary while living in Lamesa, Texas, and was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in its Cotton Classing offices for 20 years, both in Lamesa, and Abilene. She was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church, Abilene Retired Teachers, and was a longtime member of the Esther Bible Club in Abilene, serving twice as president. Eunice was a joy to all who knew her and devoted her life to caring for family and friends. She loved and served God, always thankful for His many blessings. Her family will miss Nanny, this kind and generous lady, who opened her heart and her home to us for so many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Burt; brothers, C.A., Morris, and Rex; and sisters, Sylvia Pilley, and Ottie Scott. She is survived by her son, Mike Burt and wife, Susan of Amarillo; daughter Judy Moss and husband, Larry of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Mary Katherine Duvall and husband, Jeremy of Amarillo, Maggie Burt of Amarillo, Brandon Moss and wife, Shelby of Keller, TX and Austin Moss and wife, Tiffany from Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Matthew Duvall, Phoebe Duvall, Will Moss, and Reese Moss. She is also survived by her sister Cleo Hahn; as well as many nieces and nephews.
