I remember Aunt Faye as a beautiful person. She had a soft, sweet voice, and always showed her loving, caring nature. I can also remember her loving on her children. She was truly one of God’s special daughters. I know she will be greatly missed.

I guess it took Aunt Fay for me to start going through all of Mother's and Daddy's pictures this weekend.  Thank you Aunt Fay for the kick-start. 

In addition to the two pictures, I also found a Christmas card from Aunt Ruby whose words seem appropriate today:

"As we reflect on memories of the past and love of family, may we find peace in our hearts and joy in this holiday season."  

Today's holiday was certainly a beautiful celebration of Aunt Fay's life and legacy.

 





Aunt Fay was such a kind, loving person.  I remember, as Kim did, going over to the big house with the big covered porch  and large trees in Abilene.  One time, Debby and I were trying to knock down Wasp nests in the the detached double garage. We were probably about 8 or 9 so it was a real long time ago!  She knocked down hers and we got away without any trouble.  Unfortunately, when I threw the small plastic hammer and knocked down the other one, we weren't so lucky.  While we ran as fast as we could, they were all over us.  Aunt Fay lovingly dotted us with baking soda on what had to be dozens of stings.  We looked like some kind of weird polka dotted smurfs.

Never saw her get mad in all the years.  There was another time though when Uncle David took Debby and I with him to deliver something to a work site (probably oilfield related).  He had a big chew of tobacco in his mouth, and I asked him if I could have some.  Well, I guess he felt like experience was a wonderful teacher and pinched me off a small piece.  I think that there's a scripture somewhere that says, " I felt something stirring deep inside of me."  I understand that one much better now.  Aunt Fay was not happy with him, but on a positive note, I don't chew tobacco today.

You are all in our prayers and I wish we weren't experiencing such strange goings on in the world and could be there to celebrate a life well lived.   We love you all.

She was always so nice to me. Sweet Woman

I remember as a young child growing up in Abilene spending time at Uncle David's and Aunt Fay's home.  Our families would get together occasionally to visit and let the cousins play.  Aunt Fay was always kind to us.  She was a beautiful person inside and out and her smile was particularly memorable because I never saw her without one. 

The attached picture from 1959 doesn't include Aunt Fay, however, it does have cousins Kyle Dunn, Kim Thomas (Dunn), Debby Gunn (Hunter), Kathy Altman (Hunter) and David Hunter included.

Aunt Fay, I am blessed to have had you in my life.  Your beauty and joy will be missed.  Please give mom and dad a hug for me.

Sweetest  woman I ever knew.

 I couldn’t of asked for a better grandmother. Many cherish-able memories, but the ones I loved were our Christmas’s  together as a family. From family gatherings to looking up in the bleachers to see her at every softball game I played. She always rooted me on. I can still see her cheering me on. You will always have a special place in my heart grandma Fay I love you. 

Sweetest person I know. 

I took mom and Aunt Fay to see Aunt Ruby in Dallas.  Aunt Sonja met us at Aunt Ruby’s house.  Sweet memories of the three of them being together.  There are pictures posted of that day.

Rest In Peace Aunt Fay.  You will always be remembered and will forever be in our hearts.
