A Rosary and time of sharing will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, visitation will begin at 6:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
Frances was born on May 17, 1932, in San Marcos, Texas. She was one of four daughters born to the late Quinten Loy Cruz and Usilia (Baretta) Loy Cruz. At an early age her mother passed away and the family relocated to Taylor County where she was raised near Hawley. She was raised alongside several of her cousins. She learned the value of hard work at an early age. She worked alongside her family members to help provide.
She married the love of her life Teodora Salinas in San Antonio, and they married in 1969. Together they made their home in Abilene. She worked in numerous fields. She was a domestic engineer and laundress for several private families, motels, and care facilities. She was a strong and independent woman. She was honest and you always knew where you stood with her. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Teodora Salinas; stepson, Antonio Salinas; stepdaughter, Gina Salinas; sisters, Rosie Rena and Mary Helen Loya and her beloved dog, Lala.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Garza and Nora Mauricio; her son, Alex Garza; stepdaughter, Jo Ann Salinas Albiar; 13 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Wanda Ocon; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
