Gertrude Mae Ratliff

Gertrude Ratliff, 87, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at her residence. Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Friday at Broadview Baptist Church, with Rev. David Cason officiating, and burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

The daughter of Conley Truman Head and Annie Mae McQuinn Head, Gertrude was born May 6, 1923 in Haskell, Texas. She was a hairdresser and a member of Broadview Baptist Church. Mrs. Ratliff was the widow of John Roy Ratliff. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wanda Freeman; son-in-law, Don Freeman; grandson, Monty Ratliff; and three brothers.

Survivors include her son, John T. Ratliff and wife Patsy of Abilene; sister, Edna Connally of Killeen; four grandchildren, Kristy Borton, Cody Ratliff, Donald Freeman and Scott Freeman; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Don and Georgie Jacobson; and caregivers, Melissa Berry and Leighann Freeman.

Pallbearers are Ronnie White, David Butler, Johnathan Ratliff, Aaron Freeman and Bobby Drake. Honorary pallbearers are Gene McCoy, Richard Bailey, Arthur Pylant and Kenneth McKelvain.
