Born December 23, 1941, in Coos Bay, Oregon to the late John Harold Caughran and Anna Willena-Caroline Miller. Lynn lived in the East Bay of California most of her life, having grown up in El Sobrante, CA, then moved to Vallejo, CA in the 1980’s and then she purchased her first home at 70 years of age in Abilene, TX back in 2013. Lynn never gave up on her dreams!
Known has “Grand” to most she was a joy to be around, genuinely interested in everyone she interacted with. A very strong, independent and intelligent woman, she raised her kids on her own. She loved doing taxes and often times volunteered her knowledge to the senior citizens of Newell’s Mobile community in Vallejo, CA along with family and friends when needed. During the Covid pandemic she made masks for all the delivery volunteers at Meals on Wheels in Abilene, TX. She loved to sew, having made clothes for her grandchildren and Halloween and dress-up costumes for the daycare children in her daughter’s business and colleagues. She was a loving, giving Christian, always willing to serve those around her in need. Grand loved her children and grandchildren deeply and was there for them through trials and celebrations alike, a solid support system and could crack a joke at just about any situation. Grand loved collecting bird and frog figurines. She loved to read. She loved airplanes, Sudoku, NASCAR racing, football and she watched the Kentucky Derby every year faithfully.
Also known as “The nice Mrs. Tice” she would give even if she herself was in need and she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Jay Norvell, his wife Cheryl Norvell and their three children, Valerie, Eric and Lindsay and her daughter Penny Kathleen Lawrence and her children Maegan Alaina Lawrence and Kaleigh Rae Lawrence.
Services celebrating her life will be held at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond, CA on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Services are in the care of Wilson-Kratzer Funeral Home.
