Hester Flodell Jones

Flodell Jones, 82, passed away on April 28, 2014 in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, 211 N. Minter Ave., Throckmorton, TX 76483, with Pete Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, Abilene. Visitation will be from 10:30a.m. to 12:00p.m. at the church in Throckmorton.

Flodell was born on January 16, 1932 in Bomarton, TX to James Wesley Wheeler and Hester Ellie McGee Wheeler. She worked as a nurse which was reflective of her humble and caregiving spirit to many. Her family remembered her as always putting others first, hospitable at every opportunity, loved to cook, and although she might have been soft spoken she was very much a strong prayer warrior for her church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Delbert H. Jones; her parents; one sister, Jeanettee Mae; and two brothers, John and Doy Wheeler.

Survivors include her sons, Harold Jones and wife, Jeannie of Anson, TX and Johnny Jones and wife, Rhonda of Throckmorton; daughters, Ann Snody and husband, Jerry of Ft. Worth, TX, Della Lord of Lafayette, TN, Judy Wilkins of Three Rivers, TX, and Linda Jones of Throckmorton, TX; brothers, Jimmy Wheeler and wife, Nita of Cottonwood, TX and Kenneth Wheeler and wife, Jo of White Wright, TX; sister-in-law, Betty Cochran of Dallas, TX; fourteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other family and friends that will cherish her memory.
