James Wesley Hollis, 53, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 in a local medical center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26th, at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James was born July 12, 1957 in Panama City, Florida. He had worked for the TDCJ French Robertson Unit for 13 years. James loved spending time with his grandsons and loved to BBQ "everything". He was a Methodist and loved to study the Bible.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Velma E. Hollis and brother, Rickey Hollis. He is survived by his father, Clifford W. Hollis of Abilene; wife, Katherine Hollis of Abilene; two daughters, Vanna Hollis of Abilene and Christy Hamaty; brother, Bryan Hollis of Marion, KY; and his grandchildren, Braxton Wesley Hollis, T. J. and Logan Holloway.
