

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with burial following in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James was born on September 1, 1934 in Hallock, Minnesota. He served his country in the United States Air Force and moved to Abilene from Roswell, NM in December of 1956. James married Lucille Meissner on July 20, 1957 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene. He worked for Gooch Packing as a production supervisor for 30 years (1960 – 1990) and then worked for Morris/Dickson Pharmaceutical Company for nine years until his retirement in 1999.
James loved bowling, working with his hands – including woodworking and lapidating (gems, jewelry, etc.) He was an avid volunteer and regular at Rose Park Senior Citizens and enjoyed square dancing. James was also a member of the Abilene Jaycees and the NRA as well as being active in scouts.
Preceding him in death were his parents; seven siblings, Floraine Jacobson, Elaine Miller, Rowaine Lucas, Eugene Jacobson, Duaine Jacobson, Donald Jacobson, and John Jacobson.
Survivors include his wife Lucille Jacobson of Abilene; son, Mikael Jacobson of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Julia Cornelius and Amber Jacobson both of Abilene; one brother Paul Jacobson and his wife, Ellen of Oregon; three sisters, Jean Bouldauc of N. Dakota, Joann Anderson of Minneapolis, MN and Saundra Martin of California; two grandsons, David Cornelius and wife, Katie and Danjel Watson and wife, Shelby; and three great-grandchildren, Elliott, Xavier, and Isabella.
