

Jeanne Wells Wood Holloway, born November 2, 1940 in Malian, Philippines died Monday, October 14, 2013 from complications of Multiple Sclerosis. Funeral services will be 10:30a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest with Rev. Luke Back officiating with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St.
Ms. Holloway was a compassionate woman who always wanted to give more than she had. She had a deep love for her family and friends as well as those who could not care for themselves and animals.
Ms. Holloway was raised on the East Coast after leaving the Philippines at the age of two prior to the bombing during WWII. Ms. Holloway lost her father, Paul Douglas Wood, in WWII. She was raised with her brother, Paul "Pete" Wood, her Mother Dorothy Wood Hersey, and her step-Father, George Hersey. Her parents and brother have all preceded her death.
Ms. Holloway married in 1965 and is survived by her three daughters. Caprice and Jason Hawkins of Frisco, TX, Dorcas and Cyrus Campbell of Bedford, TX, and Rachel and Lindell Forbes of Lubbock, TX. Ms. Holloway is also survived by five grandchildren.
A member of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest; Ms. Holloway sang in the choir for many years, was a member of the Daughters of the King as well as the Stephens Ministries, and St. Margaret's guild and also worked at Thrift House. Ms. Holloway was an avid reader and had a great love for the written word. Writing was a passion for Ms. Holloway; she wrote short stories and beautiful letters to her family. Writing was a release for her and a way that she showed her feelings.
Later in her adult life Ms. Holloway returned to college and completed her education, receiving her BA degree from McMurry University and her Masters in Social Work from Hardin Simmons University. Upon graduation, Ms. Holloway went to work for the State of Texas as a counselor in the prison system until MS rendered her unable to work.
The family would like to thank Gary Gillit, Dr. Robert Streigler, and staff as well as the staff at Wisteria Place for their compassionate care for Ms. Holloway. The family also asks that in lieu of flowers that donations go to the Church of the Heavenly Rest Choir Fund, Meals on Wheels or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
