

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011, at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, with Pastor Trace Michaels officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jimmy was born February 9, 1934 to Ruth Estella (Sexton) and Loyd Ivester in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Jimmy was stationed in Vietnam for a time and was honored as an administrative specialist while in Vietnam. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jimmy will be remembered for being a kind person to all who knew him. He was a Christian. Jimmy was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6873.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bob Ivester; a brother, Bob Ivester; and a cousin, Butch Ivester.
Survivors include his wife, Chong Ivester of Abilene; a son, Loyd Ivester of Abilene; grandchildren, Valerie Ivester and Bob Ivester; great-grandchildren, Jadrian Ivester and McKenzi Ivester; a niece, Sharon Kay Bridgers; and a nephew, David Ivester.
