

Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, March 27, 2021 in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel with Shawn Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
John was born on December 23, 1933 in Hobbs, New Mexico to T.W. and Bessie (Pond) Anderson. He received his Bachelor’s degree from ACU and graduated from Bear Valley School of Preaching. He was a smart, Christian man who was a diligent Bible scholar and proficient in Greek. He married the love of his life, Margaret Ellen Hutchins, on November 1, 1953 in Snyder, Texas, and they spent 67 years together in life, family, love and laughter.
A “jack of all trades”, he was a hard worker and worked many years as a Boiler Technician at ACU, among other jobs and duties he held there. He loved shooting and guns, and watching sports (particularly the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers). An avid reader, John had an extensive library, and was a prolific writer himself. Over the years, he write words of encouragement and Biblical teachings to his children and grandchildren. He was a mentor who taught his family life skills and practical things. John was a lot of fun and will also be remembered for his playful spirit, sense of humor and practical jokes. He was a HAMM radio operator, and loved animals, especially his dog Pinto who was his constant companion.
Above all else, John loved the Lord and his family. He was a faithful servant, and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He fought the good fight, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Anderson, and sister Gladys Anderson.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Margaret Ellen Anderson; four sons, Dennis Anderson and wife Lesa, David Anderson and wife Lupe, Douglas Anderson and wife Tracie, and Derrill Anderson; four daughters, Debbie Richardson and husband Zern, Danita Gates and husband Kyle, Deana Schuldt and husband Brian, and Dorci Owens and husband Brad; one brother, Jim Anderson and wife Edna; fourteen grandchildren, Zach, Chris, Dylan, Caleb, Dustin, Cody, Cordell, Savannah, Ryan, Alicia, Levi, Emma, Leslie and Eric; three great-grandchildren, Lane, Cole and Alvis; and numerous extended friends and family.
