Judith Catherine Grace Crawford was born in Nauvoo, Alabama, on December 12, 1937. She graduated from Walker County High School and married her high school sweetheart, Thurman Crawford, on July 14, 1956.
Judy and Thurman moved to Michigan, where they lived for 15 years. During that time, their three children were born, and Judy and Thurman were active in their local Churches of Christ.
After returning to Alabama, Judy lived in the Trussville area of Birmingham. She worked at various jobs before joining Alabama Power Company, from which she later retired. Judy was an active member of Roebuck Parkway Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School and participated in many ministries, including Belize mission support. She was blessed to go on short-term mission trips to Belize more than once.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Thurman Crawford of Trussville, Alabama; her father, O.C. Grace; her mother, Ruth Gilley Grace of Jasper, Alabama; and her sisters, Marie Grace Rogers of Montgomery, Alabama, and Linda Grace Cooner of Carbon Hill, Alabama.
Judy is survived by her children, Gary Crawford of Trussville, Alabama; Denise Waldrop of Abilene, Texas; and Scott Crawford of Wylie, Texas, along with their spouses. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Crystal Chappell, Robert Crawford, Steven Crawford, and David Crawford, all of Alabama, and Candace Stewart, Kenny Waldrop, and Abbie Waldrop, all of Texas; as well as her seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Sandy Grace Pennington, Myra Grace Pruit, and Marge Grace White.
The family has decided against holding a service but will scatter her ashes in the spring. They suggest that any donations be made to the Belize Mission at Deerfoot Parkway Church of Christ, 6565 Husky Parkway, Trussville, AL 35173.
